WiBSE MENA to Celebrate Emirati Women’s Day 2026
WiBSE MENA will mark Emirati Women’s Day 2026 with an afternoon dedicated to recognising the achievements, contributions and journeys of women who are helping shape the UAE’s future.
The 2026 theme, “We Emerge Stronger and Better,” provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress made by women across the UAE and to recognise the growing influence of women across engineering, the built environment and wider professional communities. The event will bring together members of the WiBSE MENA community for an afternoon of conversation, connection and celebration.
Taking place on Thursday, 24 September 2026 at Egis, Dubai, the programme will provide an opportunity for attendees to hear from inspiring voices, share experiences and engage in meaningful discussions. Alongside the programme, the event will create space for networking and cultural exchange, reflecting the diverse community that continues to contribute to the UAE's development.
Although Emirati women are at the heart of the occasion, the event welcomes everyone who would like to participate and support the celebration. It aims to provide a platform for recognising achievements, encouraging dialogue and strengthening connections across the building services engineering and built environment community.
Dr. Eng. Aishah Al Shehhi
Engineering Expert, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure
Dr. Eng. Aishah Al Shehhi is an Engineering Expert at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates, bringing professional expertise within the engineering and infrastructure sector.
As a UAE National engineering professional, Dr. Aishah contributes her technical knowledge and experience to the development and advancement of engineering practices within the public sector. Her role reflects a commitment to supporting engineering excellence and the continued development of the UAE's energy and infrastructure landscape.
Omnia Halawani
Co-CEO & Founder, grfn
Omnia Halawani is Co-CEO and Founder of grfn, bringing an entrepreneurial and leadership perspective to the organisation and its work.
As a founder and business leader, Omnia is involved in shaping the strategic direction of grfn and supporting its continued growth. Her experience reflects a focus on leadership, innovation and building organisations that respond to evolving industry and market needs.
Jawaher Alsaheli
Electrical Engineer, WSP in the Middle East | MIET | Building Services & Infrastructure
Jawaher Alsaheli is an Electrical Engineer with over three years of experience in building services and infrastructure projects, specialising in electrical design, coordination, and technical reviews across large-scale developments.
Currently working with WSP in the Middle East, Jawaher has contributed to residential, commercial, high-rise, data centre, and mixed-use projects, with experience spanning power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ELV systems, BIM coordination, and multidisciplinary design. She also supports technical training and engineering discussions with suppliers and project teams.
A strong advocate for innovation in the built environment, Jawaher has a particular interest in smart and sustainable infrastructure, including smart home technologies and battery energy storage systems (BESS). She also serves as a Strategic Advisor with the Women in ASHRAE committee, supporting initiatives that empower and inspire the next generation of women engineers.
Maryam Al Shehhi
Electrical Engineer, WSP in the Middle East | AUS Alumna | MIET | Women in ASHRAE
Maryam Al Shehhi is an Electrical Engineer and graduate of the American University of Sharjah, with professional experience spanning electrical systems, building services, and data centre engineering.
Currently serving as an Assistant Electrical Engineer at WSP in the Middle East, Maryam has contributed to electrical design and coordination within the built environment, building on earlier experience with AECOM and Amazon Web Services, where she gained hands-on exposure to data centre engineering operations, predictive maintenance, and infrared technology.
Passionate about innovation, technology, and continuous learning, Maryam has a particular interest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, smart home technology, and battery energy storage systems. She also serves on the Women in ASHRAE committee, supporting initiatives that foster collaboration, leadership, and professional growth within the engineering community.
Eng. Maitha Alblooshi
Electronics Engineer, Emirates NBD | MSc Sustainability Finance & Fintech | Agile Coach | Youth Leader | Motivational Speaker
Eng. Maitha Alblooshi is an Electronics Engineer, Agile Coach, multi-award-winning youth leader, motivational speaker, moderator, and author, with a strong focus on innovation, transformation, sustainability, and inclusive leadership.
Currently serving as an Associate Agile Coach at Emirates NBD, Maitha works within the IT Group, supporting agile transformation, collaboration, and high-performing teams. Prior to this, she served as a Scrum Master, gaining extensive experience in enabling digital delivery and driving agile ways of working across technology teams.
Maitha holds a Master of Science in Sustainability Finance and Fintech from SKEMA Business School and a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from the Higher Colleges of Technology. Her multidisciplinary background enables her to connect technology, business, sustainability, and people-focused leadership.
Passionate about diversity, innovation, and meaningful change, Maitha advocates for diversity of thought and inclusive leadership as drivers of creativity and progress. She is also an ICAgile Certified Professional in Enterprise Agile Coaching and an award recipient for community service, reflecting her commitment to developing people and creating positive impact.
